The Cross – God’s Act of Love

Crosses are found in multiple shapes, colors, sizes, styles, and made from numerous types of materials.  They carry a great significance in Christendom. They are used in churches, statues, jewelry, home décor, and many other forms.  They help remind us of the ultimate sacrifice of love.  They are often found by the roadside depicting the loss of a loved one, carved on gravestones or sculpted as stelas.  Their prominence and unique beauty are found throughout the land in various forms and countries.  Whether in the form of a necklace, mirror, wall plaque, church steeple, or a stela, their stateliness reminds us of the true meaning of love.

The earliest known Altar cross is from the 9^th century where it was found as a picture in a manuscript.  In Christendom the cross reminds Christians of God’s act of love and atonement in Christ’s sacrifice as well as His victory over sin.
